Description:
This is a support position on the Government & Community
Relations (GCR) team in which the incumbent is responsible for
organizing and coordinating the flow of government advocacy
information affecting the practice and profession of architecture
to the membership.
Duties: Organize, edit, and coordinate the distribution of AIA
GCR lobby and legislative issue materials, publications, and design
charettte reports.
Ensure content is properly edited and presented in The
Angle, a weekly/biweekly newsletter of the GCR team; deadlines are
met; and manage the electronic distribution of the
publication.
Assist state and local government networks with materials
and publications.
Coordinate the AIA website content, relevant to GCR.
Coordinate with the AIA communications team to identify
media opportunities related to advocacy, write op-eds letters to
editor, etc
Work with others on the AIA GCR team to continually improve
materials being used for federal, state, and local advocacy
efforts.
Manage the coordination and timely production of all AIA GCR
materials, outreach programs with graphic designers, production
consultants, printers, and mail shop operations.
Coordinate all convention, meeting and conference materials
and publications for the team.
Manage other related duties as assigned.

Experience:
Considerable ability to communicate effectively orally and in
writing. Skill and experience in writing and editing of print and
electronic materials, including website content. Skill in
collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation and
active listening. Skill in analyzing complex subjects in a timely
manner, researching and providing logical presentations. Ability to
successfully coordinate multiple priorities and responsibilities in
a deadline driven environment. Strong proficiency in Microsoft
Office, including intermediate/advanced competency in PowerPoint,
Publisher, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience using desk top
publishing and graphic design software to produce brochures,
reports, and other publications. Skilled in using Internet
browser/internet research-based methods and Web content software
applications, particularly related to and experience with graphic
design layout, pod and video casting, etc. .
Bachelors degree and three years of experience in
communication, public affairs, government affairs, and/or
journalism. Association experience is an asset.
